Rod Freedman is an independent director, producer and executive producer whose documentaries have won many Australian and international awards and screened in dozens of film festivals. Rod and his partner, Lesley Seebold, run Change Focus Media – producing television documentaries and educational programs.
His first documentary centering on oral history was Uncle Chatzkel (2000), a personal journey to meet his 93 year old great uncle in Lithuania, which screened in over 50 international festivals.
Working with interviewer Robin Hughes, Rod produced and directed three series of Australian Biography (2003-07), about significant Australians reflecting on their lives. Interviews for the archives were conducted over three days and edited into half hour programs for television.
Rod is particularly interested in stories about people and their life’s journeys.
