frank_heimansFrank Heimans is an Australian and international award-winning documentary filmmaker, writer and oral historian.

He produced 26 television documentaries from 1970 to 2016 that were screened on television in Australia and 33 countries and have won 21 Australian and international awards, including three Gold Medals from the International Film & TV Festival of New York and the Blue and Red Ribbon Awards from the American Film and Video Festival.

He was also the founding producer, writer, director and editor of the Australian Biography series produced by Film Australia and broadcast by SBS Television and produced the first thirty-two programs in this landmark archival and television series on iconic Australians.

Between 1999 and 2016 he recorded more than 990 oral history interviews, including 29 interviews for Australian Generations Oral History Project, a major collaboration of the National Library of Australia, ABC Radio National, Monash and Latrobe Universities.

In 2011 he was awarded the Hazel de Berg Award for Excellence in Oral History by Oral History Australia.
